POSITION SUMMARY: The Advanced Practice Nurse is a registered nurse with a master’s degree in nursing whose pr! ogram of study focused on advanced nursing expertise in a clinical practice specialty. The ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner) functions in an advanced practice role as a care provider, consultant, facilitator, educator, change agent, program designer, and resource person for behavioral health services. Advanced clinical practice distinguishes the ARNP position, supported by knowledge and competence in the areas of clinical practice, research, leadership, consultation, education, and professional growth. The ARNP assumes a leadership role in strengthening collaborative relationships with healthcare leaders, physicians, therapists, and nurses in various settings to improve patient/family outcomes along the care continuum. Specifics of the position include functioning as an extender of psychiatric staff through performing admission histories and physicals for New Options patients, coverage for the program if requested by program psychiatrist. May also follow nursing! home patients under the care of staff psychiatrists as needed! . Provides education to the staff and families of residents on an annual to biannual basis and as needed. Attends team meetings of New Options and Behavioral Health Unit and transmits information to the physicians as is appropriate for patient care. Provides education to department personnel and works in conjunction with both the nurse and team leader to examine care models and improve performance. Provides follow up to Veridian outpatients in lieu of the physician for emergency appointments. Orders and follows up on outpatient labs and testing as appropriate. Manages medically related phone calls on outpatients and subsequent medical management. Performs psychiatric triage prior to psychiatric assessment and consultation when necessary. May require same day consults. Develops other patient care responsibilities depending on area of interest. May perform counseling groups for behavioral health services in area of expertise. Provides education and consultation for SRHC compu! terized hospital system and the consequent outpatient services portion as well as other duties as assigned by psychiatric staff or director. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in Nursing with emphasis in psychiatry or family practice with at least two years experience working with psychiatric populations. Required Registration License/Certification: ·Current Kansas registered nurse license. License as an independent nurse practitioner in the State of Kansas . CPR certification (Basic Cardiac Life Support [American Red Cross-CPR for the Professional Rescuer] or Basic Life Support [American Heart Association-Health Care Provider] certification will be accepted)
