Associate Chief Nursing Officer Surgical Services( Job Number: 00323-9901) Work Location: United States-Kansas-Wichita-Wesley Medical Center Schedule:! Full-time Description Responsible and accountable for management of staff and services related to nursing service operations, performing duties related to management of labor, special program development, management of construction projects and works with ancillary departments to improve working relationships. Ensures compliance with all legal, licensure and accreditation requirements as designated by accrediting agencies. Directs, plans, leads, controls and ensures optimal operations of nursing business administration. Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of population served, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, while providing care/service with respect to cultural differences and spiritual needs.

Provides education and leadership in directing the nursing administration office, including mentoring, training, and ongoing support and evaluation of department members; encourages growth and development of al! l department members, promoting autonomy, self direction, and ! initiative in patient and/or facility functions Supports daily oversight and management of productivity indicators for nursing departments; communicates with department leadership when issues identified to assure timely resolution Facilitates management of staffing and patient flow functions to assure safe and appropriate patient placement; interacts with and provides education to hospital departments in matters of human resource management, productivity, and patient flow functions Provides leadership and direction to nursing recruitment and retention activities Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports, and prepares periodic reports for senior leadership as required or requested; evaluates, presents, and utilizes data effectively to demonstrate status, progress, and areas of opportunity towards departmental activities Responsible for budget preparation and monitoring department expenses for assigned areas Assists leadership to ensure the stability and r! eputation of the hospital by ensuring compliance with all legal, licensure, and accreditation requirements as designed by TJC and other accrediting agencies Collaborates with Quality Management department to identify potential QA or risk issues; performs any necessary investigation, documentation and follow-up as required Responds to patient complaints in accordance with WMC procedure; acknowledges the importance of customer service and need for timely follow through on issues identified Responsible for tracking construction projects and assuring construction plans are monitored and managed from a nursing perspective; communicates status and changes to CNO in a timely manner Assumes responsibility for nursing department in the absence of the CNO Serves as a consultant and/or resource to managers on operational issues for nursing The above statements reflect the general duties and responsibilities necessary to describe the essential functions of the job, as identified, and s! hall not be considered an exhaustive list of job responsibilities which! may be inherent in the position. Qualifications Required Registration, Licensure or Certification Current licensure in the state of Kansas as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policy Required Education or Experience Master`s Degree (or current enrollment) in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field Five years progressive nursing management experience Required Knowledge and Skills Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including, but not limited to, administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patient and/or significant others Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively Possess personal computer skills Ability to multi-task, delegate and prioritize Possess problem-solving and c! ritical thinking skills
