The Director of the EMT/PARAMEDIC Program shall be responsible for all aspects of the program i.e., curriculum revision and development, maintenance of accreditation status, recruitment and selection of students and faculty, and report directly to the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Administration, organization, budgets, and supervision of the educational EMT and Paramedic Programs. * Continuous quality review and improvement of the educational program.

  • Oversight of longrange planning and ongoing program development. * Measuring the effectiveness of the program with systems in place to demonstrate the effectiveness of the program. * Maintaining cooperative involvement with the medical director via regular meetings. * Ensuring adequate controls to assure the quality of the delegated responsibilities.
  • Supervise recruitment, retention, and advising of qualified students to the EMT and Paramedic Programs. * Assuring all course approvals are submitted to Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) in timely fashion. * Acting as chair of advisory committee. * Acting as liaison with program medical director.
  • Submit annual report for EMT/Paramedic program. * Review and approve all courses and schedules submitted to BEMS. * Develop and revise EMT/Paramedic curriculum, course descriptions, course content, and program outcomes. * Overseeing and directing the daytoday operations of faculty and classes.
  • Planning and conducting regular meetings for departmental faculty. * Planning and conducting regular advisory committee meetings. * Maintaining contracts and appropriate communication with hospitals, fire, and EMS agencies for clinical and field internship experience. * Participating in interviewing and recommending hiring of new faculty, adjunct faculty, and staff.
  • Collecting data for annual CoAEMSP report from required surveys. * Maintain specialized accreditation with CoAEMPS and BEMS. * Annually reviewing the methods used for evaluation and assessment of the students in the program with the program medical director. * Providing opportunity for all students to complete an evaluation of each course.
  • Participating in the review of faculty using recommendations for improvement of courses and programs which will come from information through surveys and evaluations completed by current students, graduates, employers, etc. * Schedule and coordinate clinical placement and field internship of all students. CONSULTING TASKS * Participating in faculty and staff assessment as necessary. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES * Supervision, recruiting and scheduling of qualified lab assistants.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff. * Hearing ability sufficient to communicate by telephone and in person. * Physical ability sufficient to sit or stand long periods of time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE * Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution required. Masters degree in a healthrelated field preferred. * Must be currently certified as a paramedic by a nationally recognized certifying organization.
