Writing Specialist

Location: Kansas City Kansas

Description: Univ of Kansas Medical Center is at the momment seeking for Writing Specialist right now, this position will be placed in Kansas. More complete informations about this position opportunity kindly read the description below. The Writing Specialist reports to the Director and forms part of Educational Support Services team. The Writing Specialist will serve the KUMC students, residents, and fellows w! ho are located on the KU Medical Center Campus in the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Health Professions and Graduate Studies. The Writing Specialist has the primary responsibility for designing programing and delivering writing consultation for the increasing number of KU Med students who seek writing services. The Writing Specialist will interface with The KU Writing Center, in Lawrence and adopt the same on-line consultation services for the Med Center. As this is new service to the students on the med center campus, marketing the programs and services will be integral to this position.

Required Qualifications

MA or equivalent with at least one year's experience teaching and tutoring writing. Doctoral candidates with one year or less until graduation will be considered.

Excellent written communication skills as evidenced by completion of a thesis and/or a scholarly publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Experience working with diverse s! tudents, faculty, and staff in an educational environment.
Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. or ABD preferred.

Experience teaching writing to graduate students and/or tutoring graduate students in writing.

Experience teaching and/or tutoring in asynchronous/synchronous online modes.

Experience preparing and leading writing workshops and creating/supervising writing groups.

Experience in personnel supervision, including the training and evaluation of student employees.

Experience developing and implementing assessment tools.

Successful grant writing experience.
