We currently have an opening for a Respiratory Therapist Student.

Responsibilities:

  • Administers respiratory care in accordance with the procedure manual and/or departmental guidelines.
  • Accurately evaluates and assesses the patient's condition (to include breath sounds, pulse, patient color, inspection and palpation) and takes appropriate action.
  • Provides sensitive and effective communications with all age groups especially under high levels of stress.
  • Educates patients and family members regarding cardio-respiratory diseases, medications, equipment, and procedures.
  • Uses equipment and resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Responds to overhead pages in a rapid manner.
  • Requirements:
    • High school diploma or GED and completion of 1 semester of clinical training in an Associate's or Bachelor's program in Respiratory Care.
    • RCP student permit license form State of Kansas Board of Healing Arts.
    • Basic Life Support Certification.
    • Must be available Monday through Friday on the day shift for 4-6 weeks of orientation and competency assessment (previous experience at KU Hospital may be counted as part of this orientation).
