Provides primary care to patients acting as an assistant to physicians in the clinic following establishedstandards and practices.Major Duties and Responsibilities:Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Collaborates with physicians inmanaging acute and long-term medical needs of patients.Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic proceduresas needed.Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.Administers medications and injections according to physician direction. Sutures minorlacerations.Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.

Recommendscommunity resources to meet patient and family needs.Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Providespatient education.Maintains and reviews patints records, charts, and other pertinent information. Posts testsand examination results.Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation.Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.Performs related work as required.Expectations:1. Perform and complete physical assessment for each assigned patient.2.

Collaborate with physician regarding patient treatment plan.3. Provide patient and family with education and information regarding diagnosis.4. Carry out physician orders.5. Respond to patient telephone calls before leaving each day.6.

Interpret and integrate diagnostic procedures.7. Maintain a professional and positive attitude.8. Observe clinic guidelines and policies.Knowledge and Skills:Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience.Education: Equivalent to a college degree and a professional certificate or a graduate degree.Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.Other Skills: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and fingerdexterity and eye-hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods otime. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 lbs. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to communicable disease and bodily fluids.
