Position ideal for:

  • Someone willing to work one to two weekend days a month
  • Someone desiring great flexibility - this will not be a typical 9-5 position - you will have great freedom to come/go as long as our residents are properly cared for and you are meeting other internal goals
  • Someone who can SELF MANAGE and is DRIVEN

This is a salary position - (hourly pay rate equivalents are for comparison sake and assuming 40 hour work weeks - you could work less, could work more -- $20.07/hr to 22.60/hr is appx what the salary range breaks down to)

Oak Creek Senior Living is a 36 bed Assisted Living/Residential Care facility in Topeka KS - we back up to Shunga park and have a great group of residents. Oak Creek is family and locally owned (this is the owners only facility). Owner and executive director are involved in day to day operatio ns - we place our residents first and want our team member to share the same philosophy.

Most of our residents do not require extremely heavy care, most are fairly independent however we do facilitate aging in place, so the expectation should be that some residents will decline and require extra attention. Oak Creek does partner with outside therapy/hospice companies so fostering and maintaining relationships with our outside vendors to care for our residents is key.

Ideally our new Nurse will have an LPN license or above - and will be an individual looking for some autonomy in their life and an ability to self manage. You will not be required to be here M-F at set times. Your hours will be somewhat flexible, however you will be REQUIRED to insure our residents are receiving proper nursing care, you're present for doctor rounds, floor staff are properly versed on caring for our residents and understanding you may receive a call 2am on a week night. However if you put sound nursing systems in place and keep open lines of communication with our floor staff we would guess late night calls should be kept to a minimum.

***If you are an individual that requires strict structure and punching a time clock this position is not for you***

As stated above if you schedule your day to work 3 hours in the morning, take off the afternoon, come back to work 2-5 hours late evening etc we will be fine with that. Again, resident care/satisfaction is of upmost importance. You will have the added support of our Executive Director who is an LPN with over 20 years geriatric nursing experience. Initially this position will be required to share weekend call with our Executive Director, however we do plan on adding a Weekend On Call Nurse who can also work PRN for added support once the DON position is filled.

We will expect you once a month at minimum to work the floor with our CMA's/CNA's during one of their 12 hour weekday shifts, and yo u will choose one weekend day a month to do the same. We will do the best we can to have PRN staff available to work the floor, however if we need floor coverage we will look to you to assist in the proper coverage.

The week you work a Saturday/Sunday you will be allowed to work 4 weekdays.
