General Summary: The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA/NA) works under supervision of a licensed nurse or CMA. It is the responsibility of the CNA to provide an exceptional experience of care while delivering personal care assistance and service. She/he assumes responsibility and accountability for own actions and works in cooperation with other health team members to exceed expectations for every resident, every time, in every interaction so each resident will know they are loved First, Best, and Most!

Essential Functions: Perform all certified nursing assistant duties in accordance with the Kansas Health Occupations regulatory guidelines while adhering to facility policies and procedures. Treat all residents with dignity and respect, including those wit! h disruptive behaviors and insure resident rights are maintain! ed at all times. Assist with implementing residents plan of care. Provide resident with opportunities for independence and choice consistent with their care plan.

Support and foster good relationships with residents, families, visitors and co-workers. Answer call lights promptly. Complete documentation of tasks performed and other documentation according to facility policy/procedures, including vital signs, meal percentages, weights and other documentation as needed. Giveds a detailed report at end of shift.

Assist residents with transfers, promote ambulation and exercise, transport residents as needed and as designated on resident plan of care using gait belts, proper transfer techniques, and lifts per facility policy and procedures. Make beds and change bedding as needed for resident comfort/hygiene. Meet resident nutritional needs by assisting with meal set-up as each resident requires and provide assistance with eating as needed. Reports any behavioral! or physical changes in residents condition, problems, and concerns, grievances with residents and/or families /responsible parties to licensed nurse or administrative personnel.

Provides personal care for the residents in a calm, friendly manner and in private, maintaining resident dignity and resident rights. Maintain optimal resident mobility and skin integrity by promoting ambulation and exercise. Check residents routinely to ensure all needs are met in a timely manner. Performs universal precautions at all times and proper disposal of infectious waste at all times.

Assist with activities including getting resident to activities and returning resident to living area when activity completed. Accountable and responsible for each resident assigned while under direct supervision and upholding high expectations of facility. Attends all mandatory in-services or makes arrangements to watch video of in-service. Willingly performs other task as assigned by lice! nsed nurse or administration.

Minimum Knowledge & Skills Re! quired: Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Previous experience in geriatric care desired. Must have patience when working with the elderly and frail. Minimum Education and Experience Required: High School diploma or GED preferred.

Completion of Certified Nursing Assistant course following the guidelines provided by Kansas Health Occupations. An NA must be enrolled in a Certified Nursing Assistant course and successfully completed the first 40 hours of the course and meets all competency requirements. Licensure, Certification, Registration, etc., Required: Must have current Kansas CNA certification. Current BLS/CPR certificate or willing to obtain within 6 months is preferred.
