Position Description:
The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) coordinates patient care activities on a daily basis by directing patient flow and assignments on the nursing unit or department assigned. The CRN has excellent clinical skills and maintains competence in general nursing and unit-specific education and competencies. Provides formal and informal mentoring and assistance to staff with clinical activities and decision-making. Participates in overseeing and/or planning unit orientation, validation, education and in-service needs. Works with nursing instructors ! and nursing students regarding student experiences in the nurs! ing unit/department. Actively participates in PI activities, committees, and task forces to improve nursing practice and care.
He/she ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice, serves as a resource, preceptor, and mentor. Demonstrates leadership skills in decision-making and problem solving. The RN integrates and communicates knowledge and sensitivity to patient's psychosocial, spiritual, cultural and age specific needs. He/she practices within the boundaries of the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, specialty standards and organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
Position Requirements:Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
2 year/Associate degree required
Experience:
3-5 years RN experience required
Knowledge, Skills:
Verbal communication, organi! zational, assessment, customer relations, critical thinking/reasoning, and ability to multi task and prioritize required
License, Registration and/or Certification (if applicable):
Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure in the state of Kansas required
Healthcare provider CPR certification (American Heart Association ONLY) required
