The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) to provide services in Specialty Care Service, specifically in Podiatry and Renal Services. Tour of duty will be 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

U.S. Citizenship

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.

DUTIES:
The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) will manage the care of acutely and chronically ill adult and geriatric patients at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in the specialty areas of Podiatry and Renal Services. The incumbent will function as a team member, caring mainly for outpatients, but may perform some inpatient related duties under the direction of the supervising physician for Podiatry and Renal Services. The duties include, but are not limited to, the promotion and maintenance of health, prevention of illness and disability, health education and interdisciplinary coordination of care. The ARNP will assess, stabilize and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Must be citizen of the United States . Must be proficient in spoken and written English.

QUALIFICATIONS :
Must be a graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by either the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), an accrediting arm of the National League for Nursing OR the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), an accrediting arm of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) at the time you completed the program. The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. In these programs, students are given a certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX and should submit this certification to VA prior to apointment. Must possess a current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. A nurse practitioner must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a nurse practitioner in a State, possess a master's degree from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCCNE, and maintain full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. The certification must be a speciality to which the individual is being appointed or selected. Transcripts must be submitted.

Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a National Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel. The criteria are as follows: Practice: practice, ethics and resource utilization; Professional Development: education/career development, performance; Collaboration; collaboration, collegiality; Scientific Inquiry: quality of care, research. Physical Requirements: The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as typewriters and record boxes; or occasional lifting of heavy items (over 50 lbs). The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above average agility and dexterity. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.)
