The Charge Nurse/Supervisory Nurse is required to direct, administer and
record the care given to residents. The Charge Nurse is also responsible for supervising nursing staff on their shift and providing general oversight to employees in
all departments in the evenings, on weekends and holidays when their direct supervisors are not present. The Charge Nurse is directly responsible for assuring that all staff under their direct supervision complies with the facility mission and provides good customer service including being attenti! ve and compassionate to all residents, their families and othe! r staff members. The Charge Nurse monitors and implements the resident Plan of Care and is responsible for the direct oversight of Medication Aides.
This is a full time 12 hour night shift Sat, Sun, Mon. 7p-7a
Responsibilities:
Provides information for the Quality Assurance Committee weekly and monthly meetings by documenting and reporting potential and actual issues that affect quality care and services.
Communicates with family members regarding the progress of the resident.
May be required to draw blood and obtain fluids to submit for lab work.
Records and monitors all progress of residents and communicates with physicians according to facility policies.
May be required to assist in dining area and assist in feeding residents.
Assures that all medications and treatments are administered as ordered and in a timely fashion according to facility policies and schedules.
Monitors work of Person! al Care attendants in each house to insure that their assignments are being completed and assists with tasks as needed. Monitors for facility values.
Coordinates care of residents in accordance with their care plans. Completes various reports and communicates to other staff as needed.
Monitors personal and staff compliance to all State and Federal requirements including bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials, infection control and fire safety.
Monitors personal and staff compliance to Residents' Rights.
Required to replace nursing staff that calls in sick with additional staff. May be required to help provide nursing services when sufficient staff cannot be attained.
Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
This is a supervisory position. Applicants for this position are required to handle employees in a manner that assists them in their ability to function effectively. Applicants must be able to ! perform in such a way to build good working habits and relationships am! ong the staff that they manage as well as other departmental staff. Applicants must demonstrate on an ongoing basis the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and other departments.
Applicants must be familiar with the operation of various medical equipment, instruments, machines and various office equipment. This includes, but is not limited to: vital signs machine / monitor, oxygen concentrator, sphygmomanometer, glucometer, stethoscope, nebulizer, C-Pap machine, suction machine, mechanical lifts, whirlpool, pagers, telephone, copy/scan/fax machine, and fire alarm systems.
Applicants must possess a Current State of Kansas Nursing License as a Registered Nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse.
